#1 Contender World Heavyweight Championship - Triple Threat
Goldberg vs. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
All three men stood apart in the ring and you could see them exchanging words and the fans heavily chanted "Goldberg, Goldberg!" and that angered the Game, who spat on Goldberg from a distance. Goldberg approached Triple H and then Lesnar stepped in and exchanged words with him. Goldberg walked towards Lesnar and said something to him and Triple H took his opportunity to nail Goldberg from behind. Lesnar then backed Goldberg into the corner and gave him a number of right hands and then Triple H and Lesnar double teamed Goldberg. Lesnar went to the top rope but Goldberg walked over and grabbed him and pulled him down. Goldberg then caught Triple H by the throat and gave him a military press into a power slam to take him down to the mat. Goldberg then pushed Triple H out of the ring and then he went for the spear on Lesnar but Lesnar gave him a clothesline to knock him down to the mat. Triple H then mounted Lesnar and gave him a number of right hands and he and Lesnar continued to double teamed Goldberg. Triple H and Lesnar gave Goldberg a double team suplex and then Lesnar gave Goldberg a power slam and Triple H quickly went into a cover on Goldberg but Lesnar grabbed him by the hair to break up the pin. Lesnar and Triple H then argued and Goldberg got up and gave Triple H a right hand but Lesnar knocked Goldberg down to the mat with a clubbing blow. Lesnar then knocked Triple H out of the ring and Goldberg gave Lesnar a number of right hands and then Lesnar hung Goldberg up on the ropes with a hot shot and then he signaled for the F5. Lesnar grabbed Goldberg and Triple H got in the ring with a steel chair and went to hit Goldberg but he instead hit Lesnar. Goldberg then kicked the chair into the face of Triple H and then he gave him a power slam and it should be noted that you can only win this match by pinfall or submission and that the match will not end in a disqualification. Lesnar got back in control and took Goldberg to the outside Lesnar went to powerbomb Goldberg on the announcer's table on the outside of the ring but Goldberg got out of it and he went to jackhammer Lesnar on the table but Triple H hit Goldberg in the ribs with the steel chair and then Lesnar gave Goldberg a powerbomb right through the table!! Triple H grabbed the steel chair and whipped it into the steel ring post and then he held it up and Lesnar stared him down, asking him what he's going to do with the steel chair? Triple H dropped the chair and begged off and when Lesnar went to pick up Goldberg, Triple H grabbed Lesnar and shoved him into the steel steps. Triple H then went for the Pedigree on Lesnar on the outside of the ring but Lesnar got out of it with a back body drop. Lesnar and Triple H then got back in the ring and went at it with Goldberg down and out on the outside of the ring. Lesnar and Triple H immediately exit the ring on the other side and start battling up the rampway! Lesnar and Triple H battled to the ramp way and Lesnar went for an F5 on the ramp but Triple H got out of it and then Lesnar gave Triple H a 2 handed chokeslam on the ramp way! Lesnar grabbed Triple H by the foot and dragged him down the steel ramp and then he lifted him up and put him on the ring apron and pushed him into the ring. Lesnar then got in the ring and Goldberg got up and in the ring and speared Lesnar down to the mat! Goldberg then slowly rolled over and pinned Lesnar Cover……1………….2………….NO! Triple H breaks up the count! Triple H takes Goldberg into the corner and hits more of his mounted punches in the corner! Triple H tosses Goldberg into the ropes and hits a spinebuster! Triple H poses to the crowd and then puts Goldberg in position for the pedigree! Triple H goes for it but he back body drops him!! Goldberg gets up and goes into the corner and then spears Triple H! Goldberg signals for the Jackhammer and puts Triple H in position! Triple H goes up… and Down!! Jackhammer!! Cover….1…. Oh! Lesnar kicks Goldberg in the jaw. Goldberg rolls off of the Game… Lesnar covers Triple H……….1…………2…………………3!!! Lesnar steals it!! Lesnar is #1 contender!! Lesnar walks up the entry way and raises his hands as Goldberg looks on furiously in the ring!
Up next is the battle for the WWE championship! Now remember the rules... whoever loses will never get a shot at the WWE championship again!!
WWE Championship
Kurt Angle (c) vs. Scott Hall
Hall and Angle stared each other down before locking up. Angle hit a side headlock takedown and then a shoulderblock. Hall came back with a hip toss and Angle bailed to the outside. Back in the ring and they locked up again and Angle took Hall down with a hammerlock and then an arm bar. Hall came back with a side headlock takedown of his own and then nailed a shoulderblock, and then another, and Angle bailed again. Back inside, and Angle nailed some right hands and uppercuts and unloaded with right hands in the corner. Angle charged at Hall but Hall got his feet up and then slammed Angle and hit some quick elbow drops for two. Hall sent Angle headfirst to the corner, to all four corners. Hall then nailed a side slam for two. Angle raked the eyes and then hit a German release suplex and went to work with more uppercuts and stomps to the back. Angle scored with a snap suplex for a two count and then hit some cross face shots before locking in a rear chin lock, while driving his knee into Hall’s back. Hall fought out and got a sunset flip for two and then hit some right hands of his own but then walked into a belly to belly suplex from Angle. Angle hit a knee lift, and then another one, before locking a waist lock on the canvas and then switched it into a body scissors. Angle then grabbed a rear naked choke while Hall was still in the body scissors but Hall fought up and nailed a big time DDT. Hall nailed some right hands and then a big clothesline, followed by a flying shoulder tackle, and then a suplex for two. Hall went for the Edge but Angle fell out the back and locked in the Ankle Lock but Hall shoved him away and then nailed a spinebuster for a near fall. Angle missed a charge in the corner and Hall went for the Outsider Edge again, but Angle reversed and nailed the Angle Slam! Cover…..1……………2…………..NO! Hall gets the shoulder up! Angle locked in the Ankle Lock but Hall kicked him off again and then nailed the fall away slam! Hall again calls for the Edge and this time hits it on Angle!! Cover…..1……………2………..No! Angle gets his foot on the bottom rope! Hall picks Angle up but Angle trips him up and locks the ankle lock in again! Hall reaches for the ropes but Angle pulls him back to the center! The title is on the line and the stakes are high! Hall is shouting now and once again reaches the ropes but Angle pulls him back to the center! Angle has the ankle tightly gripped and is not letting go! Hall then flips around and kicks Angle right off into the ref!! Hall then hobbles to the outside and grabs the championship belt! Hall comes back into the ring but is met with a right hand by Angle. Angle picks up the belt and nails Hall right in the face with it!! Angle hits the cover and the ref begins to wake…1………………………..2………………………………………..NO!! Scott Hall kicks out!! Angle is in total disbelief! Angle picks up the ref and screams in his face… he then pushes the ref down and turns around and Hall nails him with the title belt! Cover… the ref crawls over….1………………………..2………………………No!! Angle kicks out!! Hall gets to his feet and sticks Angle between his legs for the Outsider Edge… but Angle reverses and picks up Hall in an alabama slam position… Hall rolls into a sunset flip…1….2…no… Angle rolls out of it..grabs Hall’s legs and rolls Hall up tightly in a jacknife pinning position…1…………2……………….3!! Angle retains the title!!! Angle rolls out of the ring as quickly as possible and grabs his belt! Hall looks on as if he didn’t even know what happened!
A replay is shown and it looks like Hall’s left shoulder may have been off the canvas… but none the less… Hall cannot challenge anyone for the WWE championship as long as he is still working in this business! What a match!
Well it is now time for the main event of the evening! The tournament finals! Who will walk out the new champion on Raw?
World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs. Edge
Cena backed Edge into the corner to start things off. He did it again after the ref broke them up and pummeled the champion in the corner. Cena then hit a back elbow smash and a belly-to-belly suplex. Edge finally gained some momentum when he dodged Cena’s running shoulder thrust attempt, sending the challenger shoulder-first into the ring post. Cena almost got counted out, but he made it back into the ring. Edge stomped and punched away at Cena to build his momentum. He then hit a standing dropkick that nearly sent Cena out of the ring. Edge taunted the crowd and hit a running forearm that sent Cena, at that point standing on the apron, right into the padded barricade. Cena almost got counted out again, but barely made it back into the ring, where Edge continued to beat the hell out of him. Cena tried to fight back as the crowd started to get behind him a bit, but Edge caught him with a spinning heel kick. Edge used forearm shots and right hands to keep control, but Cena again tried to fight back. The challenger connected on a Fisherman’s suplex for a near fall. Edge quickly regained control when he threw Cena out of the ring. The crowd, meanwhile, seemed like they were having a hard time making up their minds. Cena again barely made the count. He tried to hit Edge with a diving shoulder tackle, but the champion had it well scouted and moved out of the way. Edge followed with a running clothesline and made the cover for a near fall. He then locked in a chinlock with his knee buried in Cena’s back, but eventually switched it over to another wear down hold. Cena fought out of the hold, but ended up getting a big boot to the head. Edge then headed to the top rope, but Cena caught up to him and went to the top with him. Cena tried for a superplex, but Edge battled back, head butted the challenger off the turnbuckle, and came off the top with a flying clothesline. 1…2…No! Cena kicked out of the cover. Edge continued his assault with an elbow to the back of Cena’s head. A “Let’s go Cena” chant broke out, as Edge locked in a Camel Clutch. Cena freed himself from the hold by getting to his feet and dropping backwards. The challenger tried to gain some momentum with the seldom used Throwback. Cena caught on fire, hit several clotheslines, a diving shoulder tackle, and a spinning backdrop to set-up the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena drilled the fist drop and went for the FU, but Edge countered and hit the Impaler DDT. 1…..…2……..no! Edge went back to the top, but Cena caught up to him again. Cena hoisted Edge up onto his shoulders and looked to hit the FU from off the second turnbuckle. Edge slid off Cena’s shoulders, though, and landed with his feet on the mat. He placed Cena on his shoulders and brought him away from the ropes. Edge tried for an electric chair drop, but Cena rolled through and scored a close near fall. The champion then went to the second rope and tried for a cross body block, but Cena caught him and tossed him up onto his shoulders looking for the FU. Edge countered out but Cena capitalized with a roll-up and scored another near fall. The frantic sequence finally ended when Edge and Cena knocked each other out with simultaneous clotheslines. Cena made it to his feet first and tried to get back on the offensive, but Edge countered and hit a face buster. Edge then set up in the corner for the Spear. Edge tried for his finish, but Cena countered and put him in the STFU. Edge inched closer and closer and finally made it to the ropes. As the ref turned his back Edge grabbed some brass knucks out of his tights! Edge goes to hit Cena but the ref catches Edge’s hand and pulls the brass knucks out of them! Edge yells some hateful words to the ref and turns around and Cena hoists Edge up on his shoulders and hits the FU!! Cover….1………………..2………………………..3!! It’s over! Cena has won the tournament!! Cena is the new World Heavyweight Champion! Cena holds up the World title as fireworks shoot off in the arena!! Cena has overcome every obstacle and is now the World Heavyweight Champion here on Raw!
