A video package is shown highlighting the matches we will see tonight... then ....... BOOM! The pyro goes sounding off and we are live on PPV for Backlash!!! Tonight ladies and gentlemen... every championship on Raw will be defended including the World Heavyweight Championship where 4 of the greatest stars on Raw will enter the squared circle! Well let's not waste anytime... let's hit the ring for some opening action!!
Jeff Hardy vs. Carlito
They locked up, with Carlito taking Hardy down w/ a snapmare. Hardy came back with an inside cradle for the first near fall, but Carlito caught him with a backslide soon after. Carlito kipped up uniquely, but Hardy grabbed a headlock. Hardy knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. An awkward sequence followed as Carlito tried to leapfrog Hardy, but it didnt fly. Carlito recovered and dropkicked him in the knee. He continued to build momentum with a back elbow smash and a vertical suplex. Hardy came back with a dropkick to the gut and a clothesline. At that point, they looked a little rusty, but they picked it up when Hardy dodged a Carlito springboard moonsault and connected on a spinning mule kick that sent CCC out of the ring. Carlito tried to get back in the ring, but Hardy caught him with a baseball slide. Hardy then went out and tried to run the rail and come off with a diving clothesline, but Carlito connected on a mid-air dropkick. Back in the ring, Carlito regained complete control with a chinlock, but Hardy backed him into the corner to break the hold and mounted him for several punches. He tried to follow with a double stomp, but Carlito got his feet up and nailed Hardy in the gut. Looking to work on the mid-section, CCC settled on a reverse bear hug. Hardy regained his footing and awkwardly scored with his unique jawbreaker. He tried to follow with the Twist of Fate, but Carlito countered and pushed him into the turnbuckle. Carlito followed with a quick roll-up for a near fall before synching in the reverse bear hug again. Hardy eventually made it to the ropes, but Carlito didnt let up. Carlito took Hardy down with a snapmare takeover and followed with a jumping leg drop for a near fall. He then locked on the reverse bear hug, yet again, as the crowd started a boring chant. Hardy came back and battled out of the move, but Carlito caught him with a stalling flapjack for another near fall. He followed with a backbreaker and then heelishly went back to a rest hold. Hardy got to his feet again, but another awkward sequence followed, as the champ scored with a DDT. Jeff made his comeback with a series of clotheslines and a running One and Only. He then hit a suplex into a facebuster for a near fall and went for the Swanton Bomb, but Carlito got his knees up and nearly put the match away. Hardy kicked out and Carlito connected on a springboard rolling Senton followed quickly by a Lionsault for a near fall. Carlito eventually tried for a springboard cross body, but Hardy countered and went for the Twist of Fate. Carlito countered and pushed Hardy into the corner, but Jeff leaped up to the top rope and came off with the Whisper of the Wind for another near fall. Jeff headed to the top rope again, but Carlito caught up to him. Carlito mocked the champion and went for a top rope hurricanrana, but Hardy countered and sent Carlito crashing face first into the mat. Still on the top rope, Hardy came off and connected with the Swanton Bomb! Cover.............1................2..................3!! And Jeff wins it tonight!!

World Tag Team Championship
Spirit Squad (c) vs. Eugene and Goldust
Kenny started off against Goldust and knocked him down with a shoulder tackle. Goldust came back with a hip toss and a headlock takedown. Kenny used a series of leapfrogs to set up a nice dropkick. Mikey tagged in and missed two elbow drops, allowing Goldust to roll to his corner and tag Eugene. Eugene came to fight and took down every member of the Squad with a right hand before catching Mikey with the sleeper hold. Kenny broke it up, allowing Mikey to back Eugene into the heel corner and tag Kenny. Eugene proceeded to get his face rubbed into the mat. Kenny taunted him in the process and then vaulted Mikey into a splash in the corner. Mikey tried for a neckbreaker, but Eugene countered into a backslide. Kenny tagged in and connected on a second rope double axe handle before synching in a chinlock. Eugenes arm fell once
it fell twice
but it didnt fall a third time, as Eugene battled back and inched toward Goldusts corner. The Squad distracted the ref and allowed Kenny to rake the eyes. Mikey and Kenny made some quick tags to keep Eugenes tag chances at bay. Kenny slammed Eugene and put Mikey up on his shoulders. Kenny, with Mikey on his shoulders, went to the second rope and leapt off trying to send Mikey into a unique splash. Eugene moved tagged Goldust. Both men hit a series of old school double teams, including a double clothesline, a double back elbow, and a double vertical suplex. Goldust then locked on an arm bar on Mikey, but Kenny broke it up with a top rope leg drop. Mikey finally went for the pin but Goldust rolled him up before he got the chance. Mikey kicked out, but Kenny brought one of the tag titles in the ring
he goes to hit Goldust but Eugene comes out of nowhere and hits Kenny with a stone cold stunner! Goldust then picks up Mikey and hits the curtain call! Cover

3!! New tag team champions!! Eugene and Goldust have done it!! Both men embrace eachother with there newly won gold as we go backstage...
Todd: Hello ladies and gentlemen... standing by I have the legend killer! Randy Orton! Randy tonight... you go after yet another legend... trying to kill him off...
Orton: That's right Todd! Tonight will be the final night you ever see Randy Savage in this business! These last couple of weeks Savage has tried to embarrass me on Raw... but tonight... tonight I get revenge... because Randy Savage is the next legend I am going to kill!

Intercontinental Championship
Chris Benoit (c) vs. Shane McMahon
The two locked up and Shane backed Benoit to the corner and gave a clean break. They locked up again and Shane again backed Benoit to the corner and then back to the middle of the ring and to the other corner but Benoit reversed it and were still in the tie up and it then goes to the outside and no one wants to budge. Shane backed Benoit to the barricade and then they broke it and both got back in the ring and had a stare down. Benoit hit a double leg and went for a Sharpshooter early but Shane countered into a leg hold. Benoit then came back with a side headlock into a rear chin lock and then scored with a side headlock takedown. Shane rolled Benoit over for one but Benoit kept hold of the side headlock. Shane rolled through again for two and then Benoit broke the hold. Shane complained saying he had something in his eye and backed into the corner. The referee checked and then Shane blindsided Benoit. Shane hit some uppercuts and then Benoit came back with chops but Shane hit a drop toe hold into a rear chin lock putting all his weight on the neck of Benoit. Shane maintained control with some quick covers and then slapped Benoit but Benoit then slapped Shane knocking him to the canvas. Benoit hit some knees on Shane in the corner and then some chops. Benoit scored with a backbreaker for a two count and then went back to working over Shane on the mat. Benoit rolled Shane up for two and then worked Shane over in the corner with more chops. Shane scored with an eye poke and then a clothesline for two. Shane pulled Benoits arms backwards on the mat and had his own foot on the top of Benoits head and pulled backwards. The fans got behind Benoit and he fought out but then Shane locked in a crisscross choke. The fans chanted for Benoit as he flipped Shane down and Benoit went for an elbow but Shane moved and covered for two. Benoit exploded with a German suplex and nailed another, and then a third. Benoit headed up top for the headbutt but Shane moved and both men are down. Benoit hit a dragon screw leg drag out of the corner and went for the Sharpshooter but Shane kicked him off and went to the outside. Shane grabbed a chair but Benoit hit a baseball slide under the ropes into the chair and Shane. Back inside, and Benoit went up and hit the headbutt for a near fall. Benoit nailed a right hand and then a chop in the corner. Shane came back sending Benoit sternum first into the corner and then nailed him hard in the back and locked in a quarter nelson into a cover for two. Shane went to the outside and pulled Benoit to the apron and drove his elbow into Benoits throat. Back inside and Shane punted Benoit and then stomped him in the gut. Shane nailed an elbow drop, and then another, before locking in another rear chin lock. Shane locked in a dragon sleeper with a hammerlock and then nailed Benoit hard in the back. Shane again nailed Benoit with a forearm to the back of the head sending Benoit to the mat. Benoit came back with right hands in the corner but then Shane drove his elbow into the shoulder and then hit a knee drop. Shane worked Benoit over in the corner some more with a running shoulder into the gut. Shane hit a hard clothesline and again covered for two. Shane locked in a nerve hold on Benoit but Benoit fought out and nailed a German out of nowhere. Benoit hit another but Shane blocked the third and hit some headbutts but then Benoit hit an enziguri. Outside the ring and Shane grabbed a lead pipe but Benoit ducked and nailed a German on the floor! Back in the ring and Benoit hit the three amigos but then Shane came back and knocked Benoit off the apron and the back of his head hit the barricade. Shane followed out and speared Benoit into the barricade before sending him back into the ring. Shane threw Benoit shoulder first into the ring post. Benoit came back and went for the Crossface out of nowhere and locked it in! Shane tries to reach for the ropes but is in the middle of nowhere! Shane finally taps out! Benoit retains!!
Well up next we find out if the legend of the Macho Man will be killed!! Savage and Orton are next!!
Legend vs. Legend Killer
"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Randy Orton
The two men stare down as Savage backs Orton into a corner. Orton slaps his face and Savage goes for Orton with a right hand but misses. The two men lock up and Savage has Orton in a side headlock. Orton evades two blows by the Savage before hitting a standing dropkick for a two count. Orton drops the Savage with a back body drop, leap frogs a Savage blow, but then he catches a right hand right to the jaw sending him down like a sack of bricks. Savage is in control until he runs into a cradle and Orton pins him for a two count. Orton goes for an early RKO but Savage tosses him right to the outside of the ring. Savage sets Orton up on the apron and gives him an elbow. Savage runs at Orton with a big boot but Orton evades and Savage goes groin first into the turnbuckle. Orton dropkicks Savage off the apron and sending him flying into the security barrier. Orton takes advantage and he works on the head of the Savage followed by a few uppercuts. Savage fights back with elbows and right hands but Orton explodes off the ropes with a clothesline sending the Savage down. Savage whips Orton off the buckle before dropping him with a sidewalk slam. Savage covers and Orton kicks out at two. Savage works Orton over in the corner before whipping him to the other and crushing him with two exploding splashes. Savage drops Orton with a clothesline. Orton gets up and grabs the head of the Savage before giving him numerous clubbing blows to the chest! Orton goes for the rights and lefts making the Savage teeter. The two men go back and forth for a bit until Savage places Orton in the dragon sleeper. Orton hangs in it for a bit until reversing the hold into a DDT. Orton jumps on Savage with a front face lock. Savage fights himself out but Orton slaps the sleeper on again. Savage counters with a back suplex. Both men get to their feet and Orton runs into a kick to the gut and a jaw breaker!! Savage then climbs to the top turnbuckle and dives off but Randy moves and Savage hits the mat hard! Orton gets up and nails the RKO on Savage but cannot make the cover. Finally after about 15 seconds
Orton gets the arm over

..NO! Savage kicks out! Orton cannot believe it and picks up Savage again! Orton goes for the RKO again Savage counters and hits the chart buster! Orton is stunned on his feet and Savage rolls him up

..3!! Savage wins! The Macho Man has prevailed! Savage poses to the crowd as we get set for our final encounter!!
We go backstage...
Todd: Well before you get set for the final encounter I am standing by with Edge! Now Edge tonight... you have a chance to become World Champion... but with all the other superstars... you have to think.. aren't you more of an underdog?
Edge: Underdog? What the hell are you talking about? I'm better than Shawn Michaels! Didn't you see me pin him in the middle of that ring. I've beat Cena before too.. and The Rock... he's not even in my league! Tonight I will show everyone that Edge is the greatest wrestler on Raw and they will all find out why I am Rated R!
Hogan's music hits and he comes out to a huge ovation. Triple H's music hits next and he gets a small ovation... both men look ready!
The Final Encounter
Hulk Hogan vs. Triple H
Triple H calls for the Test of Strength. Triple H takes Hogan, who is sporting the Superstar Billy Graham look with those tights, down to his knees. Hogan is back up and gets a back elbow and then Triple H puts him in a wrist lock. Hogan comes out of it and puts Triple H in a side headlock, pushes him off and gives him a shoulder block. They tie-up again. Triple H kicks Hogan in the midsection, Hogan goes down. Hogan tries to get up and he gets worked into the corner by Triple H. Triple H goes for the Irish Whip, but Hogan reverses and gets the back body drop. Triple H is up and Hogan gives him a pair of clotheslines. Hogan and Triple H trade punches. HHH runs at Hogan and gets flipped out of the ring. Hogan follows and whips him into the post and the barricade. Triple H goes for a suplex outside the ring and it gets blocked, Hogan then hits one of his own. Triple H spikes Hogan's head on the ring steps. Back in the ring Triple H chops Hogan in the corner and then gets whipped into the other corner. Triple H goes for the Pedigree, but gets blocked. Hogan hits a slingshot. Hulk takes control and nails Triple H with a neckbraker. Hogan goes for a suplex and HHH evades and repeatedly chop blocks Hogan's bad knee. HHH then drags Hogan into the corner and nails him into the post. Hogan limps back to his feet as HHH re-enters the injury. Triple H chop blocks him again. HHH puts Hogan's leg on the ropes and elbow drops his knee. Triple H drags him into the middle and puts him in a leg lock. Hogan keeps grabbing at Triple H's hair repeatedly but the ref keeps pulling him off. Triple H keeps changing up different leg wrenches as he repeatedly works Hogan's bad knee. Hogan kicks HHH away, but Triple H comes back and puts Hogan in a Figure Four. HHH uses the ropes to gain more leverage and prevent Hogan from rolling him over. Hogan finally reverses the pressure. Triple H escapes. HHH puts Hogan in a sleeper but Hogan 'Hulks Up' and hits a back suplex. Hogan picks Triple H up again but he kicks back and gives both Hogan and the ref a low blow!! The ref goes down! Triple H then races to the outside and pulls out the sledgehammer! Triple H goes to hit Hogan but Hogan blocks and gives the game a right hand that takes him down to the mat! Hogan picks up the sledgehammer and looks at it as if he is going to use it but before he can make a decision Triple H gives him a low blow from behind! Triple H gets up and loads Hogan up and hits the Pedigree! Triple H covers as the ref slowly counts

.3!! Triple H beats Hogan! Triple H wins! Triple H is a little bloody but still stands with his arms raised in the air! It could have gone either way... but in this final encounter Triple H comes out on top!
Well up next The Masterpiece challenges Goldberg!
Goldberg vs. "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters
Goldberg came out to a really strong reaction. Then Masters got almost none whatsoever. Finally they lock it up Masters came back quick with a thumb to the eye, but Goldberg recovered and regained momentum. On the outside, Goldberg rammed Masters back-first into the guardrail and slammed his face into the steel steps. Masters got busted open in the process. Back in the ring, Goldberg hit Masters with a running clothesline in the corner. Masters played like he was going to quit and walk away, but when Goldberg turned his back, Masters attacked. Masters stomped away at Goldberg and through him into the ropes but Goldberg hit a clothesline! Masters wound was really opening up as the match went on, but he finally gained control with a running boot. Masters choked the former champ before hitting a powerful clothesline. He proceeded to stomp away at him in the corner and follow with a running knee to the face. Masters went to the outside and wrapped Goldbergs arm around the ring post. Back in the ring, Masters scored a near fall and then hooked in a rear chinlock. He switched it to a key lock and yelled at the ref to ask Goldberg if he wanted to give up. Goldberg started his comeback with several shoulder thrusts in the corner. Goldberg then ran at Masters for the spear but he moves and Goldberg hits the turnbuckle
Masters then locks in the Masterlock! Masters swings Goldberg left and right and has it totally synched in! Goldberg starts to lose consciousness and Masters yells at the ref to check on Goldberg. The ref lifts his hand up once
and it goes down! The ref lifts the hand again and it goes down for the second time!! The ref lifts Goldbergs hand for the third time but Goldberg keeps it up and tries his best to fight but Masters has it locked in tight! Finally Masters throws Goldberg down to the mat and goes to the outside and grabs a chair! Masters comes back in the ring and goes to hit Goldberg but is leveled with a spear!! Goldberg roars and picks up Masters in the suplex position
. Then slams him down with the jackhammer!! Cover

Well coming up next... Our main event of the night! Shawn Michaels' first defense of his championship... and from the looks of things it could be his hardest!
World Heavyweight Championship - Fatal 4 Way Elimination Match
Shawn Michaels (c) vs. The Rock vs. Edge vs. John Cena
Match starts off with all 4 men going at it. Edge and Michaels battle it out in the corner while Cena and Rock immediately take it to the outside! On the outside Rock tosses Savage into the ring post and he falls to the ground with a shout. In the ring Edge works on the champ in the corner with stomp after stomp. Edge picks up Shawn and tosses him into the ropes but Shawn hits a clothesline that takes down Edge! Finally Rock joins the fun and nails HBK in the back of the head before hitting a DDT on him! Rock and Edge start to double team Shawn giving him a double clothesline followed by kicks in the corner. John Cena starts to crawl his way up to the ring but Edge baseball slides him right back down! Edge and Rock continue to lay out the champ. Edge picks up HBK and puts in position for the Edgecution but suddenly the Rock decks Edge! Rock hits the spinebuster on Edge and covers him only to get a 2 count! Cena then comes finally off the top and hits Rock with a cross body for a 2 count! HBK gets to his feet and him and Cena start battling! HBK gets some blows in on Cena but Cena hits him right back! Finally Shawn hits the ropes but Cena catches him in a modified powerslam then hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle! John Cena feels it and calls for the FU! If Cena hits this we are guaranteed a new champion! Cena is poised but turns to the Rock instead and hits him with the FU! Cena then gets up and hits Shawn with the FU as well! Suddenly out of nowhere comes Edge and he levels Cena with a spear!! Edge covers Cena! 1

..3!!! Cena is eliminated! Cena is rolled out of the ring and Edge hops on HBK for a pin

NO! He kicks out! Edge then hops on Rock for a cover

.No! Rock kicks outs! Edge gets frustrated and sets up in the corner for another spear. Whichever man is the first to get up is going to get speared!! HBK is the first to reach his feet but he moves from the spear and Edge hits the turnbuckle and falls out of the ring. Rock and HBK stood and glared at each other in the ring. They went right at it and exchanged fast-paced blows. They fought to the outside and Rock slammed HBK into the announce tables and then dropped him on the barrier and then slammed him into the steel steps. Rock choked HBK against the ropes and then back suplexed him in the middle of the ring. Shawn fought back and slammed Rock into the corner twice and Rock reversed it on the third, but then HBK nailed him with a clothesline. The Rock locked Shawn in the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring. Shawn inched his way over to the ropes but Rock pulled him back to the center! HBK screams in pain and gets his tapping hand ready! Shawn is about to tap but he starts crawling the ropes again and grabbed the bottom rope to break the hold. Edge then crawls back in the ring and runs at Rock but he catches him and hits a spinebuster!! Rock then sets up for the Peoples Elbow
Rock runs into the ropes but Shawn nips up and nails Rock with a kick to the chin before he can reach Edge!! Shawn covers Rock

3!!! Rock is gone!!! We are down to 2 men! Edge and HBK! One of these men will leave tonight with the World Heavyweight Championship!! Edge drove an elbow into the back of Michaels head but Michaels fought back with right hands. HBK went for a dropkick but Edge reversed into a sit out powerbomb for two. Edge locked in a rear naked choke with a body scissors on Michaels in the middle of the ring as the fans chanted HBK, HBK. Michaels got back to a vertical base and elbowed out and then hit a chop but Edge pulled him down by the hair! Edge then mocked HBK by doing his pose, and then gave him a right hand. Edge sent Michaels face first into the buckle and whipped him hard to the corner. Edge then hung Michaels over the top rope while dropping down to the outside. Edge went up top and came off with a cross body but Michaels ducked and then got Edge in a Oklahoma Roll for two! Edge quickly got back up and hit a super kick for two. Edge pulled Michaels up by the hair and then drove him into the mat. Edge went for a back suplex, but Michaels reversed for two but Edge got up first and knocked Michaels down with a clothesline. Edge then went back to a rest hold as the fans got behind HBK. Michaels elbowed out again and scored with a forearm and some more chops and then scored with a knee lift and sledge to knock Edge down. HBK scored with a reverse atomic drop and a right hand before going to work with more chops in the corner. HBK gave Edge some mounted punches in the corner and then hit a sunset flip for two. Michaels catapulted Edge into the corner but the ref is there and Edge squashed the ref! Edge regained control and Edge perched Michaels on the top rope and climbed up himself but Michaels hit some right hands on Edge and knocked him down. Michaels then came off with an elbow drop on Edge and both men are down! Michaels was first to his feet and started tuning up the band in the corner. Michaels went for Sweet Chin Music but Edge ducked and nailed Shawn with the spear!!! Cover.... but there is no ref! Edge has the match won but the ref is down! Edge goes over and kicks the ref and then sets HBK up for the Edgecution! HBK flips Edge over him with a counter!! Edge gets up but Michaels hits him with Sweet Chin Music!!! Cover... the ref is there..1

.3!! Michaels retains the title! Shawn celebrates as fireworks go off in the arena! HBK has survived his first and probably his hardest title defense!
