Highlights are shown from past Royal Rumbles and then Boom! Off goes the pyro and we are set for the Royal Rumble!!!! Tonight we have the WWE title on the line as Carlito gets the opportunity to fight for the belt! Also a triple threat match for the World title as Batista and Scott Hall look to capture the World title while Angle looks to retain it!! That’s all here plus the 30 man over the top rope Royal Rumble where the winner will go on to WrestleMania!! Let’s kick things off with tag team action!!
World Tag Team Championship
Chris Jericho and "Macho Man" Randy Savage (c) vs. Matt and Jeff Hardy
Matt and Jericho start it out. Lock up but Jericho rushes Matt into the corner. Another lock up ensues but Matt with a side headlock takedown and holds in a headlock. Jericho with a running elbow and a right hand punch knocking Matt down. Matt with punches and hip toss to Jericho and Savage and another side headlock takeover for a two count on Jericho. Jericho tags to Savage but Matt slams Savage and nails a fist drop and tags out to Jeff who nails a dropkick over the top rope and tags out back to Matt. The Hardys nail a leg drop/elbow drop combination and a flip elbow leg drop for a two count. Jeff nails the whisper in the wind and covers but Jericho breaks up the count. Matt clotheslines Jericho over the top rope and Jeff jumps on top of Matt's back and catipults himself launching a crossbody unto Jericho and Savage on the outside. Matt nails an elbow to Savage in the ring for two. Matt with a clothesline but Savage comes back with a blow to Matt's back. Jericho and Savage throws Matt back first into the corner multiple times. Jericho tags in but Matt counters with a russian leg sweep and tags to Jeff. Jeff dropkicks Jericho to the outside and goes to nail a dropkick through the ropes but Jericho pulls Jeff back first out ringside. In the ring Jericho powerbombs Jeff then runs in and hits the lionsault!! Cover…1………2…………..No!! Jeff kicks out!! Jericho with a slam and tags to Savage. Jericho throws Savage into a leg drop to Jeff for a two count. Savage with a sleeperhold to Jeff who fights out but Savage counters with a swinging neckbreaker for two. Tag to Jericho and Jericho nails fists to Jeff's back. Jericho hits a clothesline then tags in Savage. Jeff surprises Jericho with an inside cradle for two. Savage with a boot for two. Tag to Jericho and Jeff fights back and Jericho tags back out to Savage who comes in with a flying fist drop. He tags back out to Jericho who nails a snapmare and applies a sleeperhold but Jeff fights out and nails a jaw breaker. Jericho tags Savage who nails a back suplex to Jeff. Tag back to Jericho who runs into a reverse mule kick from Jeff. Matt makes the hot tag who nails a running clothesline and bulldog for two. Matt nails the side effect and covers but Jericho breaks up the count. Savage comes up and goes for the chart buster but Matt counters and nails the twist of fate and tosses Jericho to the outside. While the referee is checking on Jericho, Jeff goes up top and nails the swanton bomb on Savage!!! Matt makes the cover…….1……………..2……………………..3!!! It’s over!! It’s over!! We got new tag team champions!!! The Hardyz have defeated Savage and Jericho what an upset!!! Both men grab there titles and make there way out of the ring celebrating.. in the ring Jericho comes in and Savage and him start a bit of an argument before walking out..
We go backstage and Carlito is standing by…
Todd: Well Carlito tonight your dream could come true! You have a lot of fans in that audience tonight and you could walk out with the WWE Championship!
Carlito: Carlito knows what’s at stake! Carlito knows what he has to do to beat John Orton and that is simply this… John.. I respect you… but if I have to play dirty tonight to win that WWE Championship then I won’t hesitate to do so!
Up next the US title is on the line in a big time match!
United States Championship
Randy Orton (c) vs. Bobby Lashley
A staredown begins before Orton and Lashley lock up. Lashley backs Orton to the corner and the referee breaks them up. Test of strength between the two next and Lashley is over powering Orton bringing Orton down to his knees. Orton then powers up and Lashley backs Orton to the corner. Lashley takes Orton down and uses his ameteur skils pinning Orton for a one count. Orton with a side headlock but Lashley counters with a shoulder block takedown. Orton with a drop toe hold and Lashley bails to the outside. Lashley with a leap frog and another shoulder block takedown. Lashley then misses a charge and Orton nails a bulldog and scoop slam followed by an elbow drop for a one count. Orton hits a neckbreaker and covers Lashley but his foot is on the bottom rope. Orton gets a boot up but Lashley counters with a t-bone suplex. Lashley with knees to Orton's ribs and spears Orton to the corner. Lashley nails a sidewalk slam for two. Lashley irish whips Orton hard to the corner. Lashley then lifts up Orton and hits a suplex! Lashley is looking dominant as ever tonight!! Lashley misses a clothesline and Orton hits a dropkick! Orton then sets up for an RKO but Lashley counters with a gut buster and applies a reverse chin lock and body scissors. Orton fights out and Lashley turns it into a sleeperhold. Orton makes his way to the ropes and the hold is broken! Lashley then tosses Orton to the ropes but its reversed and Orton locks in a sleeper hold! Lashley starts to fade but then he lifts Orton up over his shoulders and hits a powerslam!! Cover….1…………2………..No! Orton kicks out!! Lashley then is poised in the corner for a spear! Orton gets to his feet and dodges it!! Lashley hits his head in the corner and Orton nails the RKO!!! Orton cannot capitalize and both men are down! The ref begins a count and both men begin to reach their feet at the same time! Both men do reach their feet and Lashley out of nowhere runs down Orton with a spear!! Cover……1………………2…………………No!!! Randy Orton again kicks out!! Lashley should be wondering what he has to do to put Orton away! You can tell Orton does not want to lose this match up! Lashley then picks Orton up to a vertical position and lifts him up on his shoulders for the dominator!! Orton quickly slides out the back door! RKO! No! Lashley pushes him off into and kicks Orton in the gut again and quickly lifts him back up and hits the dominator!!!! Here’s the cover…….1…………………..2……………………………3!!! We have a new US Champ!! Lashley has defeated Randy Orton!! Lashley reaches his feet and is handed the belt! His hand is raised in victory but you what an attempt by Orton to retain his title!! Wow! What a fight!
We go backstage and Batista is standing by!
Josh: Well Batista coming up next it’s the match you have been waiting for for awhile now! Batista you finally get a shot at the World Heavyweight Title!
Batista: You know Josh back in July I was the WWE Champion and I took on these 2 men and lost my championship… well tonight is the rematch! Kurt Angle thinks he is still better than me and Scott Hall is like a fly that you keep swatting but he keeps comin back! Tonight I end Scott Hall! And tonight I end Kurt Angle and I walk out as the World Heavyweight Champion!!!
Well that is a focused Batista right there! No doubt about it! Well the time is here folks.. the World Heavyweight Championship is on the line and it is a No Disqualification Triple Threat Match!!
World Heavyweight Championship
Kurt Angle (c) vs. Batista vs. Scott Hall
Angle runs directly at Batista to start the match and gets backdropped all the way to the floor! Batista and Scott Hall start it off with a right hand from Hall but Batista came back with a shoulder block and then a big head butt. Batista chopped Hall in the corner and gave him a clothesline. Batista chopped away at Hall in the corner and then whipped him to the opposite corner. Hall came off the middle rope but Batista caught him and slammed him down with a spinebuster and made the cover but Angle came in and broke things up! Batista gave Angle some right hands and chops and then went back to Hall and gave him a big right. Hall fought back with right hands and went for a suplex, but Batista reversed with one of his own. Batista then knocked Angle down with a big boot and Batista is dominating. All 3 men end up on the outside and Batista knocked Hall down with a right, and then sent Angle head first into the steps. Batista whipped Hall into the ring post and Angle went for a German, but Batista backed him into the ring post. Batista ripped apart the steel steps and put them in position and then started to dismantle the announce table. Batista grabbed the steps and went for Angle but Angle trips him up and Batista falls on the steps!! Hall and Angle quickly capitalize and double suplex Batista right through the announce table!! Angle then took over on Hall with right hands and forearms and then sent Hall back inside but Hall came back with some clubbing shots to the back. Angle fought back with an arm drag into an arm bar! Angle worked over the arm of Hall but Hall came back with a right hand and then hit a clothesline on Angle in the corner. Hall whipped Angle to the other corner but Angle moved when Hall charged in, and scored with a German. Angle went for another but Hall held onto the ropes and then escaped and went for the Outsider Edge but Angle backdropped him and hit another German. Angle went for the Angle Slam but Hall fell out and hit a fall away slam! Cover….1………2………No! Batista is back inside and knocked both Angle and Hall down with a clothesline and handed out some right hands. He gave Hall a scoop slam and then slammed Angle on top of Hall. Batista whipped Hall into Angle in the corner and then squashed them both and scored with another double clothesline! Batista signalled for the Batista Bomb and grabbed Angle, but Hall hit a clothesline and Batista goes down! Angle took over on Hall with a German! Then Batista reached his feet and Angle hits the Angle Slam on him! Cover……..1……………..2………………….Hall makes the save!! All 3 men finally reach their feet again and Batista clotheslines Angle to the outside and Hall went for a clothesline on Batista and nails it!! Hall then puts Batista in position for the Outsider Edge but Batista counters out and hits a spinebuster!! Batista shakes the ropes but turns around and Angle nails him in the face with the World title belt!! Angle makes the cover on Batista….1………………..2……………………..3!! Kurt Angle retains the title!!! No freakin’ way! Angle has stolen this one tonight!! Angle races out of the ring and Batista stares on in the ring and looks furious!!
Up next the WWE Championship is put on the line as John Orton defends against the young stud… Carlito!!
Carlito makes his way to the ring with a big ovation! Out next comes the champ who gets a very mixed reaction…
WWE Championship
John Cena (c) vs. Carlito
Cena and Carlito locked up and Carlito backed Cena to the corner and gave him a knee to the gut. Carlito sent Cena to the corner but Cena came back with a clothesline and then went for a baseball slide on Carlito who was outside, but Edge blocked and pulled Cena out and dropped him with a right hand. Back in the ring, and Carlito hit a drop toe hold sending Cena head first to the middle buckle. Carlito bails to the outside and Cena follows out sending him head first into the ring steps. Carlito then poked the eyes and threw Cena right into a ring steps! Carlito nailed a baseball slide on Cena sending him over the barricade to ringside. Cena made it back in at the count of nine and then Carlito unloaded with stomps to the champion. Carlito continued his assault with knees to the body of Cena and then mocked him. Carlito slapped Cena around until Cena came back with right hands but then Carlito hit a spinning heel kick for a two count. Carlito locked in a rear bear hug on Cena, working the ribs, but Cena elbowed out and then Carlito hit a vertical suplex. Cena hit some right hands and then Carlito raked the eyes. Carlito hit a standing dropkick on Cena and then a forearm shot sending Cena outside. Carlito follows out and whipped Cena into the ring steps. Carlito dropped Cena over the barricade and then tossed him back into the ring. Carlito went up top and hit a missile dropkick and covered for a two count. Carlito covered again but again Cena kicked out. Cena rallied with right hands but then Carlito levelled him with a clothesline. Carlito worked over Cena in the corner and then perched him on the top rope. Carlito went up too but Cena threw him off and then went for a leg drop from the top but Carlito moved and then covered but Cena got his boot on the rope. Carlito hit a series of left jabs to Cena and then Carlito went for an up and under in the corner and Cena caught him and went for the FU but Carlito raked the eyes and rolls Cena up….1………….2………….No!! Almost a new champ! Carlito went up top and nailed a cross body but Cena rolled through for a two count. Cena hit some right hands and then Carlito caught him in a sleeper before going into a rear naked choke with a body scissors. Cena picked Carlito up while still in the hold but Carlito sent him to the corner! Carlito then hopped on the back for the back cracker but Cena held onto the ropes and Carlito went crashing down to the mat! Cena hit a running shoulder and then a pair of clotheslines followed by a sit out belly to back powerbomb. Cena then hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle and then is poised for an FU! Carlito reaches his feet and he lifts him up on his shoulders but Carlito slides out and hits the back cracker!!!! The fans reach their feet as now both men are down!! Carlito slowly crawls and crawls over to Cena and finally gets an arm over… the fans count with the ref… 1………………..2…………………………..No!!! Cena kicks out!!!! Incredible! Carlito now tries to pick up Cena but as he does Cena lifts Carlito in the air and hits the FU!!!! Cena then grabs his legs and locks in the STFU in the center of the ring!! Carlito reaches out but is nowhere in sight of the ropes…. Carlito taps!!! Carlito taps!! Cena retains the WWE Championship!!! Cena gets a mixed reaction as he reaches his feet and is handed his championship belt! What a bout this two men put on! But this isn’t all… up next is the Royal Rumble match!
Well ladies and gentlemen it is now time for the Royal Rumble match!! 2 men will kick things off then every 90 seconds a new superstar will enter! Elimination occurs when a superstar is thrown over the top rope with both feet hitting the floor! The last man in the ring will be the winner and will go on to WrestleMania to battle for the championship!!
The music of Jeff Hardy hits and he is the #1 Entrant! Next up Big Show makes his way to the ring and it is time for the Rumble to begin!!
The Royal Rumble Match
Jeff Hardy runs at Big Show but bounces right off him! They lock up and Big Show tosses him down to the mat. Big Show continues to dominate as the countdown starts and out comes Christian! Christian helps Big Show work on Jeff for awhile and the countdown starts again and out comes Kidman! Kidman runs over and helps out Jeff and takes down Christian! Kidman jumps at Show but he gets caught on he sends Kidman right over the top rope! The countdown begins again and here comes Kane as the #5 entrant!! Kane and Big Show stare at one another and then start going at it with Kane getting the upper hand!! Christian comes from behind but Kane sees him and clotheslines him right over the top rope!! The countdown starts and here comes Charlie Haas! Haas runs in and Kane grabs him and sends him right back over the top!! The countdown starts and here comes Chavo! Chavo gets to the ring and starts going after Jeff while Kane and Big Show go at it! The countdown begins and here comes The Game Triple H!!! Triple H runs out to the ring and nails Kane in the back! Jeff Hardy comes from behind but Triple H clotheslines him right over the top!! Chavo is next to go over as Triple H takes him out. Kane and Triple H then start to double team Big Show as the clock starts to wind down and out comes Chris Jericho! Jericho then joins in the fun of trying to get Big Show over the top but Kane takes down Jericho with a right hand and goes to work on him. Next to come out is the #10 entrant Ric Flair! Flair makes his way to the ring and starts to battle with Triple H as Big Show rests in the corner. The next entrant is Joey Mercury! Mercury runs in but Big Show clotheslines him right over the top rope!! Lashley the new US champ is next to enter! Lashley goes after Big Show and gives him some rights and lefts! In the corner Triple H almost has Jericho over the top but he is hanging on for dear life!! The next to enter is JBL! JBL nails Jericho in the back and then goes after Lashley and gives him a powerslam. The countdown starts up and here comes Matt Hardy who takes down JBL and then goes after Flair and clotheslines him right over the top rope! Kane then grabs JBL and tosses him out!! The countdown starts and here comes the Macho Man! Savage is the 15th man to enter and goes for Lashley and almost sends him right over the top but he hangs on! Matt Hardy then goes to work on Savage but from behind comes Triple H who dumps Hardy over the top! Here comes RVD! Van Dam goes straight over and dumps Jericho right over the top rope!! Kane then knocks RVD down to the canvas and here comes Johnny Nitro! Nitro enters the ring but immediately gets the spear by Lashley!! Lashley reaches his feet and Triple H hits a clothesline and sends Lashley right over the top! Nitro gets to his feet and Big Show picks him up and dumps him over. The clock winds down and here comes the IC champ… Edge! Edge makes his way to the ring and Kane is in the middle of getting Savage out and Edge hits Kane and both Kane and Savage go over!! Kane looks on at Edge from the outside of the ring and looks angry! RVD then comes from behind and takes Edge down. Triple H and Big Show still battle on the opposite side of the ring. The next superstar to enter is Shelton Benjamin! Benjamin comes in a takes down RVD with a dropkick. Big Show then grabs Benjamin to send him over but Shelton slides right out of his arms and hits a dropkick on Big Show and Big Show teeters on the ropes but doesn’t quite go over! The countdown begins and here comes Eugene the 20th entrant! Eugene runs to the ring and starts pounding on the back of Big Show. Big Show turns around and grabs Eugene’s neck and pushes him over! The countdown begins again and here comes Shawn Michaels!! Michaels meets up with Benjamin and gets a right hand. Benjamin goes for another but Michaels ducks and hits the super kick and out goes Benjamin!! Big Show then grabs Michaels and almost takes him out but Michaels skins the cat and gets himself back in the ring! Then next entrant is Chris Masters! Masters comes out and locks in the masterlock on RVD!! Triple H then nails Masters with a clothesline and both him and RVD go over the top!! Next out comes Big Sexy Kevin Nash!! Nash and Michaels battle it out alittle bit and Edge comes behind and starts getting on Nash. Triple H then gives Michaels a low blow and tosses him over… but Michaels again hangs on!! The countdown goes off again and its Brock Lesnar!! We haven’t seen him since Starrcade! Lesnar makes his way to the ring and goes after Big Show and almost lifts him right over the top rope! Triple H then goes after Brock but gets clotheslined to the mat!! Edge then runs at Lesnar but gets a knee to the face and then powerslammed to the canvas!! The clock winds down once again and here comes Booker T the 25th entrant! Booker T gets to the ring and goes after Edge but gets clubbed by Nash! Nash then gives Booker a boot to the face and then Edge grabs Nash and takes him over the top!! Nash stares down Edge in the ring and from behind Booker tosses out Edge!! Lesnar then gets after Booker and the clock winds down and here comes the former US Champ Randy Orton! The man who guaranteed he would win the Rumble here tonight!! Orton gets to the ring and goes over to Michaels and hits some right hands! Big Show then goes over to Booker T and clotheslines him right over the top rope!! Big Show is unbelievably still in this thing! Orton almost has Michaels over as the countdown starts and the lights go out! Gong! Here comes Undertaker to the ring! Undertaker goes straight after Big Show and both men battle it out!! Lesnar then goes after Michaels and the 2 gladiators battle it out!! Undertaker takes Big Show over to the ropes and tries to lift him out but from behind comes Orton who nails Taker in the back! Taker then turns around and grabs Orton by the throat and tosses him right over the top rope!! Randy Orton is gone!! The countdown starts again and here comes Goldust! #28! Goldust makes his way to the ring and sits in the corner while everyone else battles it out! The countdown goes off and here comes Hurricane! Hurricane runs in the ring and goes after Goldust!! The final man to enter is Rey Mysterio! Mysterio gets in the ring and dropkicks Goldust out! Hurricane then gets ran over by Triple H and he goes out!! Mysterio then dropkicks Triple H in the back and almost sends him out!! Mysterio then turns around and gets clotheslined by Lesnar right over the top!! Big Show gets the upper hand on Taker and takes him over to the ropes and runs at him but Taker ducks and Big Show rolls right over the top rope!! Taker looks down at Show and from behind comes Lesnar who scoops Taker right over the top rope!! Lesnar then turns around and Shawn Michaels hits the superkick and out goes Lesnar!!! We are down to 2 men! Triple H and Shawn Michaels!! Triple H runs over to Michaels and dumps him over but he holds on again!! Triple H then gives Michaels some right hands and he is struggling dangerously right on the ring apron!! Triple H goes for another right hand but Michaels blocks it and nails Triple H! Michaels then gets back in the ring and hits the game an atomic drop and clotheslines him down! Shawn Michaels then goes in the corner and starts tuning up the band in the corner! Triple H then reaches his feet but ducks the sweet chin music and kicks him in the gut for the Pedigree… but Michaels back drops him! Triple H gets back up and Michaels hits him over towards the corner and goes to super kick him over but Triple H ducks and elevates Michaels over but he lands on the apron! Triple H thinks he has won! Michaels gets back in the ring and grabs Triple H and tosses him out!! Shawn Michaels has won the Rumble!! Shawn Michaels is going to WrestleMania!!! Triple H looks from the outside and cannot believe what has just happened!
Shawn Michaels poses to the crowd and fireworks go off in the arena! Shawn Michaels will finally get a shot at the championship that he never lost! And he will get the shot at WrestleMania!
